About Me

Welcome to my blog site for EDUC 630. I’m excited to use this resource as a tool to expand my knowledge on effective tools to use in the classroom.

I am currently in my third year of teaching. I taught general education my first year of teaching, but I switched over to special education my second year and have been co-teaching since. Right now, I’m currently living in Georgia, but I consider myself a northeast girl since I was born in NJ and have lived in PA and NY.

I tried to utilize technology as much as possible, as long as it is something that supports instruction instead of hinders it. I have noticed that the amount of technology that can be used is often limited by district resources. We just received Chromebooks this year and, prior to that, we only had five laptops in our classroom (that’s for 26 students). I personally love Google Classroom, but have not been able to use it in the way I would like. I frequently use Kahoot for review games, speech to text on word documents for accessibility, as well as IXL (a standards based program for Math) for reinforcement of skills. I also personally use social media to connect with other educators. I think that technology can be a great resource as long as it is used as a tool and not a replacement for learning.
